Stories from the weekend (8/15-8/17)

It's the first day of practice today, so don't be surprised if you see runners doing roadwork, soccer players kicking the ball around and volleyball players filling up the gyms. Football players are allowed to condition, with pads scheduled to go on later this week. The Fairfield Republic's Paul Farmer has a story on it here. ESPN/CalHiSports.com Executive Editor Mark Tennis has a story on the Sac-Joaquin Section's new Hall of Fame. The first class is scheduled to be announced early next year and inducted at a banquet in October of 2010. Find Mark's story here.

The Sacramento Bee's Joe Davidson has a feature on the Armstead brothers of Pleasant Grove. Armond, a PG graduate, earned a scholarship to play football for USC. Sophomore brother Arik just received a scholarship offer from UCLA. The football players have a bright future. Find the story here.
