SJS championship basketball recaps (3/3)

Division IV girls
#1 Calaveras 56, #3 West Campus 45
The Redskins led 28-18 at the half and maintained that lead through much of the second half en route to the school's first girls basketball title since 1975. Savannah Duncan scored 19 points to lead Calaveras, while teammate Madison Cox added 11 points and 15 rebounds. Haley Shaner led West Campus with 23 points and 10 rebounds, while she was helped out by Erianna Williams' 11 points and 11 rebounds. Calaveras won the Section's very first D2 championship in 1975. The Redskins have been back since, most recently last year, but this was the program's first title since then.

Division II girls
#1 St. Mary's 67, #3 McNair 42
St. Mary's won its fifth straight Sac-Joaquin Section championship thanks to a frenetic defense that held McNair to 42 points while forcing 47 turnovers. St. Mary's, nationally ranked, only led 13-8 after the first quarter but took off from there. Junior Courtney Range led the Rams with 25 points and 12 rebounds, while sophomore Charise Holloway added 11 points. Jasmine sales led McNair with 13 points and Kam Kaur added 12. Mandy Coleman had a game-high 14 rebounds for the Eagles. These teams are both from the TCAL; the Rams beat McNair by 41 and 37 points in their earlier matchups.

Division IV boys
#1 Modesto Christian 68, #7 Ripon 46
The Crusaders broke open a close game with a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer in their win over their Trans-Valley League rivals. MC, the TVl champion, received 21 points apiece from Raymond Bowles and Anthony Townes. Townes, a 6-foot-6 freshman, also grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds. Tyras Rattler, the sportsmanship winner, added 11 points. Ripon was led by senior post Jake McCreath, who had 13 points and 12 rebounds. In nine SJS championship games so far, the #1 seed has won every one.

Division II boys
#1 Antelope 77, #7 Lodi 55
The Titans stormed out to a 44-28 halftime lead and cruised from there, winning the school's first boys basketball championship and only the second SJS title in school history in any sport. Junior Gabe Bealer scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the way. Three other Titans scored in double figures: Jarvis Watkins (13), Kei'Shaun Sinclair (13) and Caleb King (12). Brandon Michelucci led Lodi with 14 points and Colton Machado added 13.

Division I girls
#4 Kennedy 62, #6 Oak Ridge 58, 2OT
In the most thrilling championship of the weekend so far, the Cougars weathered a furious Oak Ridge comeback, then made a shot at the end of the first overtime period to force the second OT period and pulled away from there. Lynette Johnson led the Cougars with 24 points and nine rebounds and Lori Wong added 11 points. Jenn Hoffman led Oak Ridge with 24 points, including six 3-pointers. Her six treys were one off the SJS record of seven in a championship game. Haley Anderson and Jenna Klein each added 11 points for the Trojans.

Division I boys
#1 Sheldon 49, #2 Jesuit 44
The Huskies won their third straight Sac-Joaquin Section championship behind a tough defense and 18 points from junior D'erryl Williams. Teammate Dakarai Allen chipped in with six points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Nate Iese was also tough around the glass with nine points and six rebounds. Brian Glodowski and Parker Uu each scored 12 points to led Jesuit. The game was tied at 44 with less than a minute left before the Huskies pulled away. Bryce Pressley and Akachi Okugo each grabbed seven rebounds for the Marauders.
